Beat that Drum is a spirited original composition I wrote uplifting the idea of celebration of self.  That awareness, reflection, community and solitude all play a role in our independant stamp on the planet.  The song is an inspired group statement and builds opportunity to connect with your peers and audience.  The chart is not difficult, though the play on middle eastern grooves and gospel inflections makes this a world story, inclusive and curious.  The band can lean into world percussion influences and if you have members in the ensemble that can play triangle, shakers or cahone, this piece can deepen and grow even more.
